THE HOUSE OF HISTORY
History Hus is a small museum located in Omø City, where we tell the history of Omø in the past and present.
The house is visited by just over 1,000 guests a year.
Every year, guests number 300, 500 and 1,000 who visit the house are celebrated.
Historiens Hus contributes to more people visiting Omø and to the interest in Omø's cultural history being preserved and strengthened both among the island's permanent residents, part-time islanders and the visiting tourists from home and abroad.
ABOUT THE HOUSE OF HISTORY
The Historiens Hus association owns the house at Husmandsstræde 13. The association inherited the house from organist Edith Nielsen, who was organist in Omø Church for no less than 68 years.
The house in Husmandsstræde is run - like much else on Omø - by volunteers
Historiens Hus is worth a trip if you want to experience and understand life on a small island in the middle of the Great Belt.

EXHIBITION
The house in Husmandsstræde has 4 exhibition rooms, kitchen, toilet and 1st floor with archives.
The exhibitions in the house include a small "Children's Museum" with a school desk, slate boards, pens and inkwells and toys from the old days.
There are also old, homemade toys.
In the exhibition, you can gain knowledge about life in and around
Omø Lighthouse and the harbor town of Kirkehavn.
The story of Omø City, one of the best-preserved Danish villages, and its "emigrant farms" is told on the wall of the House of History.
In the archive on the 1st floor, we have pictures, protocols and various archives which are publicly available and
can be studied by those interested.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
Outdoors in the garden you can try the horseshoe throw, walk on stilts
and marvel at a number of old ones
agricultural implements. What have the items been used for?
The children can play with old toys such as "Co-play" with hollow stones in it
string or visit the playhouse in the garden.
The House of History in the middle of Omø City creates experiences for children and
adults across generations.
SUMMER
We organize a number of guided tours for children and adults into the island's cultural landscape. Here it is from "Eat Nature".
FALL
In the autumn, workshop activities with beet and pumpkin lanterns are on the programme.
EVENTS AROUND THE YEAR
All year round, Historiens Hus organizes workshop activities for the whole family.
WINTER
In the dark months, we tell horror stories based on folk beliefs on Omø.
SPRING
In the spring we blow eggs which are decorated.
And we cook hard-boiled eggs to "trot with" at Dinas Bakke, Skovbrøndvej.
