THE PORT
Regardless of whether you arrive in Omø by ferry or come sailing in your own boat, you arrive at the old, idyllic Kirkehavn. Kirkehavn today consists of both a fishing port, a yacht harbor and a ferry port. Kirkehavn is also one of the island's two towns and has an intact village atmosphere with well-preserved older houses.
TODAY'S WALK
Let yourself be absorbed by the maritime atmosphere or spend a quiet moment imagining daily life at the port. Here you can experience fishing boats that sail out early in the morning after the day's catch and come home at noon to land the catch.
The day's catch is weighed and sorted before it is sent by ferry in the evening, to be picked up in Stigsnæs by a refrigerated truck and driven to the auction in Hvide Sande. Here you can also see islanders settling down on the bench by the ferry to keep track of who and what comes to the island and who and what leaves the island!
THE FISHERMEN'S HOUSE
Opposite the ferry berth, you will find Fiskernes hus - an old "skipper's bar" with lifebuoys and lanterns. where the island's fishermen and visitors exchange robber stories about the events that in ancient times played out and continue to play out over a single beer or two.
On the dock outside the Fishermen's House, the fishermen's catch of the day lands and you might be lucky enough to buy a freshly caught fish.
YACHT HARBOR
Omø Marina is a family-friendly marina located in scenic surroundings.
The marina has 100 berths, and each year approx. 4,500 sailors Omø.
In 2016, the harbor was renovated and got, among other things, new bridges, rest areas and stairs down to the sea, so it is possible to have a nice sea bath.
On land, new toilets and bathing facilities have been made, and a new elegant sailor's lounge has been set up in the harbor area.
CHILD FRIENDLY
In connection with the renovation of the marina, a nice playground has been established with a large sandbox, fine climbing equipment, a huge rope swing where the whole family can swing at the same time, beach volley court and much more.
Omø Marina is also only a stone's throw from the child-friendly beach, and in connection with the marina there is the possibility of camping.
